The staff at Upland Hills Health recently donated over 28,000 pounds of food to the Iowa County Food Pantry—enough to feed more than 300 families for 10 days.

The “Box Her In” drive was a call to all staff members at Upland Hills Health, including doctors, board members and volunteers, to collect enough boxes of healthy food to fill Administrator Phyllis Fritsch’s office, in 10 days.

And fill the office they did! Seven days into the collection drive, Phyllis was no longer able to reach her desk and was forced to work in the hallway.

“It was a lot of fun to watch the office fill up with boxes and to hear about the friendly rivalry between departments collecting food and money for the effort. I was happy to work in the hallway, knowing that hungry families in Iowa County would be fed. I can’t say enough about our staff coming together for something so meaningful,” said Fritsch.

On December 10th, managers at Upland Hills Health gathered together to deliver the 27 boxes of food and more than $4,500 in monetary gifts to the volunteers at the Iowa County Food Pantry.

The staff at Upland Hills Health hopes to make the Box Her In drive an annual event to ensure Iowa County families have healthy food.
