Eleven years ago, the Upland Hills Auxiliary Board took on a very large effort to support the growth of healthcare in our area. January marked a major milestone for the group, when the $75,000 pledge they embraced in June of 2000 saw fulfillment.
Not only was the final payment made on the pledge, but throughout the years, many requests for “wish list” items were also granted to Upland Hills Health to enhance patient comfort and experience.
“This Auxiliary group is an amazingly dedicated, vibrant group. Over the years, they achieved the $75,000 mark through fundraisers such as the Cookie and Candy Walk, Quilt Shows, book sales, pie sales and proceeds from the Auxiliary Gift Shop,” stated Phyllis Fritsch, Administrator, “They deserve to be commended and celebrated for their dedication to quality healthcare in our communities.”
Two current Auxiliary Board members were part of the original pledge commitment: Jan Giffey and Pat Lindner. Other Board members at the time of the pledge were: Kathryn Woodbury (since deceased), Marge Lucas, Bernice Cornish, Ginny Barritt, and Doris Harker (since deceased). The current Auxiliary Board consists of: Linda Gard, President, Karen Van Schyndel, Vice President, Jan Giffey, Secretary, Pat Lindner, Treasurer, Charlene Mingst, Carolyn Tiber, and Gay Gibbons.
