The volunteers that work with Upland Hills Hospice were recently recognized during National Volunteer Week for their service to the program. The volunteers play a very important role in the Hospice program, providing additional comfort, interaction, friendship and care for patients and their families and caregivers.

This dedicated group has recently taken on a new project that illustrates their dedication to improving the Hospice experience for patients and families. The volunteers have begun assembling care baskets for each Hospice patient and family. The baskets contain some educational materials and books about dying, as well as care items, such as tissues, lotions and lip balms.

"We are so proud of our volunteers. They are a truly indispensable part of Upland Hills Hospice and the fact that they took on this additional project speaks to their dedication to our patients and families," said Pam Spurley, Hospice Volunteer Coordinator for Upland Hills Health.

Funding for the basket project is limited, so the Hospice volunteers are asking that anyone interested in donating items or funds for the project please contact Pam Spurley at 930-7210.
