The Lions Club recently helped support the purchase of a new, state of the art infant hearing screener for Upland Hills Health. This screener allows parents to make informed decisions regarding possible medical response needed to correct hearing loss within the critical first three months of a baby’s life.

The screening equipment can determine if hearing loss exists in infants and parents of children born at Upland Hills Health, at home or at another hospital are welcome to contact Upland Hills Health to set an appointment for screening during their infant’s first three months.

Upland Hills Health had 3,000 dollars of the total cost left to raise following previous generous donations, and to help raise the remaining amount, the Lions Club challenged the Upland Hills Health Foundation to raise $1,500 and they would match it.

Through other considerate donations, the Foundation was able to raise their goal amount which allowed the hospital to finally purchase  this hearing screener through the match of the Lions Club.

“Sight and hearing are a couple of our major areas of emphasis for the Lions Club. Helping to provide this essential piece of equipment for families of newborns fits our mission of serving our community,” stated Mike Tiber, Dodgeville Lions Treasurer.

The Lions club presented the check when they held their August meeting at Upland Hills Health.
