Area Lions & Lionesses tour new and renovated
areas of Upland Hills Health
Over 70 area Lions gathered at Upland Hills Health to enjoy
fellowship, dinner and a tour of various service areas on
April 14th.
Members got to see and learn about improvements
made in the ER, Imaging and OB Suites.
Special interested
was expressed regarding the new Dialysis Center on Campus.
Scheduled to be completed later this spring, the Lions got
to walk through the construction site and view the progress.
Upland Hills Health dialysis staff members were on site to
explain the meticulous process and specialized care that
extends patient’s lives.
Guest speakers Carol Halma and Cindy Halma Thomas—the
wife and daughter of Upland Hills Health’s first scheduled
dialysis patient—explained the hardship of traveling
to receive care the last year. Martin Halma received care
in Madison which meant enduring long hours of travel through
the difficult weather conditions. Both mother and daughter
expressed relief and gratitude that care would now be closer
to home.
“We really appreciate the opportunity
to keep community members and organizations informed about
the ways in which we are serving our communities.” Upland
Hills Health Administrator Phyllis Fritsch explained. “Dialysis
is a service so many in our area have been asking for. But
it is not a self-sustaining service in terms of revenue.
We need community commitment and support. And our area Lions
organizations have always been at the forefront when it comes
to meeting community needs.”
Lions Club in attendance
were: Dodgeville Lions and Lionesses, Cobb Lions and Lionesses,
Mineral Point Lions and Iowa-Grant Lions.
