Dodgeville Masonic Lodge Contributes to Upland
Hills Dialysis Fund
A $4,000 donation recently made to support Upland Hills
Dialysis came in large part from the efforts of Dodgeville
Masons Lodge #119. $2,000 of the donation was a matching
contribution from the Medical Fund, of the Wisconsin Masonic
Foundation, which was facilitated through the local lodge.
When
the group heard of the need for a dialysis machine for local
residents, Frank A. Hallada of Hallada Motors, Inc., pledged
$500 toward the purchase. In turn, the Foundation of the
Wisconsin Automobile and Truck Dealers’ Association,
of which Hallada is a part, matched that amount. An additional $1,000 was received
through multiple donations, including the proceeds of a brat sale that the Dialysis
staff coordinated last summer.
Gary Beier, Development Director of the Auto and
Truck Dealers’ Foundation,
and President of the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation, then stepped forward to help
the local lodge play their part in securing the additional $2,000 in matching
funds.
“When a gift like this is given, it’s from the Masons, local
and statewide,” explained Mel Masters, Master Mason of Lodge #119.
“This is a great example of just how well non-profit agencies collaborate
to make good things happen,” said Beier.
The Freemasons organization is
the oldest fraternal organization in the world, and exists
to develop young men and their families to eventually help
create the foundation for a better society, according to
Masters. The organization does not espouse any religion or
politics, but instead concentrates on supporting their communities.
