New Director Focuses on Information and Quality

Vicki Scheel is the new Director of Health Information Management and Quality Improvement at Upland Hills Health. The two functions are combined for the first time in her new role.

Previously, although Health Information Management and Quality Improvement departments worked together, they were not managed by one person. Upland Hills Health will now have one person coordinating the relationship between the departments.

Scheel has a background in both Health Information Management and Quality Improvement in healthcare, including work at the Monroe Clinic and St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

She feels that the marriage of the two functions at Upland Hills Health will make it easier to report more complete data. “We have the data we need to point us in the right direction for improvement and act on opportunities so that we can make positive changes,” Scheel said.

Patients and potential patients will see the outcome of the change mostly on the internet, Scheel said. Statistical information showing quality measures for individual hospitals is published on many websites, including wicheckpoint.org and wiservepoint.org. “We are determined to get better data to those sites,” Scheel explained, “Information is the key.”

Scheel began her new role at Upland Hills Health on August 1.
