Upland Hills Health Receives Read Program Donation
from UW-Platteville Students
The UW-Platteville chapter of the Student Wisconsin Education
Association recently donated several educational packages
to Upland Hills Health to distribute to newborn babies.
“WEA
Read is setting out to create packages for parents and
their newborns that encourage creativity and literacy from
birth,” explained StWEA Vice
President Christi Rischar. “The packages have books, nursery rhymes and
fun interactive toys that parents and their child can enjoy.”

The group
funded the project through a $450 grant and a donation
from the West-side Madison Wal-Mart store. With help from
Ms. Rostad’s fourth grade class
from Neal Wilkins Elementary School in Platteville, the chapter assembled the
packages and delivered them on November 16.
“We’re grateful to the
students for donating these packages to our patients’ newborn children.
We are also happy to be a part of a project that helps promote literacy and parental
involvement in our community,” said
Dori Christensen, Director of Obstetrics at Upland Hills Health.
