Adam Dachman: A surgeon who touches many lives in many ways

Many people have been touched by Dr. Adam Dachman's hands. He has spent eight years at Upland Hills Health perfecting the latest innovative surgical procedures and keeping up with advances in technology. This is evident to his patients and their families, who come to learn they are in good hands.

As a passionate physician dedicated to personal growth, Dr. Dachman has traveled near and far to bring the latest advances to southwest Wisconsin. He and a talented staff have successfully performed nearly 3,800 procedures in Dodgeville – many that were previously not available, nor heard of.

"When we recruited Dr. Dachman, he was highly sought after by hospitals and clinics across the nation. We were and are so fortunate he picked Dodgeville," says Ray Marmorstone, CEO of Upland Hills Health.

Dr. Dachman has found his practice philosophy is greatly appreciated by area residents.  "I'm a competitive physician, so I'm always looking for the best options for my patients. I'm going to look for the cutting-edge techniques, ways to maximize safety and help patients get back to work as quickly as possible," Dachman adds.

His philosophy and skills are a great asset to Upland Hills Health. "Dr. Dachman serves us exclusively and is truly dedicated to our operations. He adds to the scope of services we can provide, and like many of our doctors, encourages us to really focus on our patients and look for new and innovative ways to help them," Marmorstone said.

Dr. Dachman's practice offers a wide range of state-of-the-art procedures, including laparoscopic gall-bladder surgery, hernia repair, colon surgery, and heartburn surgery.

A busy colon cancer prevention program has successfully reduced the number of colon cancers seen each year at Upland Hills Health.

A large portion of Dr. Dachman's patients have breast abnormalities and require sensitive and caring attention.  This is where Dr. Dachman finds the essence of practicing medicine today – the doctor-patient relationship. "I've worked hard to maintain this honor to be a part of a patient's journey through difficult circumstance," Dr. Dachman says.

Dr. Dachman has worked hard to bring new surgical procedures to southwest Wisconsin. When asked about the changes he has implemented, Dachman says, "When I look back, I can feel proud of these accomplishments. Each advancement has taken planning, careful patient selection, and precision execution," he adds.

One technique Dr. Dachman has brought to Dodgeville is a hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery. This allows a patient to undergo major abdominal procedures with only small incisions. Thus allowing for much faster healing rates and quicker returns to a healthy lifestyle.

He has mastered laparoscopic incisional hernia repair, which means a patient can leave the hospital the same day as his surgery with remarkable pain control.

Dr. Dachman has performed thousands of laparoscopic procedures, many of which were for chronic heartburn sufferers. This has been a welcome relief for those patients undergoing the procedure.

He has also introduced to this area a line of Venus Access options for local chemotherapy patients. This is considered by many medical professionals a tricky technique, and Dr. Dachman has developed precise ways to give cancer patients a better access port for their life-enhancing and often life-saving medications.

"Comprehensive, caring surgical services with the utmost attention to detail is what my patients expect and deserve. And, it's what I deliver," Dachman says.

Other new procedures he offers include infra-red coagulation for bleeding hemorrhoids;  thorascopy for chest and lung biopsies; and groin hernia repair technique that allows a patient to return to work in one to two weeks.

Before coming to Wisconsin, he did his internship and residency at Michigan State University/Botsford General Hospital. He's a graduate of Des Moines University, College of College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. To learn more about Dr. Dachman, visit www.adamdachman.com.
