Upland Hills Auxiliary donates $1000 to
SouthWest Tech Scholarship fund for nursing students |
| |
| At their January meeting, the
Upland Hills Auxiliary Board of Directors
decided to donate $1,000 towards the Upland
Hills Health scholarship fund at Southwest
Wisconsin Technical College. The Auxiliary
Board’s donation will help grow the
scholarship funds for students pursuing a
career in nursing. “Upland Hills
Health would like to be able to offer more
scholarships to nursing students and this
donation helps,” said Troy Marx, Upland
Hills Health Director of Human Resources. “We
hope to some day offer scholarships to students
in other healthcare programs at Southwest
Wisconsin Technical College as the endowment
grows.” |
|
| The volunteer board views this
donation as a small step to developing the
current healthcare human resources available
in the community. “All healthcare organizations
are challenged by the shortage of professionals
available in the healthcare field. Why not
help our children and neighbors—the
folks that already love the area and live
here—develop those skills?” offered
Auxiliary President Toni Rochon. “And
hopefully they will come to Upland Hills
Health to work someday!” |
|
| Upland Hills Health has one
of the largest auxiliary organizations for
a hospital of its size. There are 416 active
members who generously give their time doing
everything from enhancing patient care, working
in the gift shop to assisting residents at
the Nursing and Rehab Center, and organizing
events. |
|
| To find out more about the
auxiliary and how your talents and time would
be welcomed, contact Volunteer Coordinator
Erin Groshek at 930-7113. If you would
like to donate to this scholarship endowment
fund, you may contact the Upland Hills Health
Human Resources Department by calling 930-8000. |

Dodgeville area attractive to physicians |
| |
In Dodgeville, local clinics and the hospital
have had physician recruitment successes in recent years.
Since 1990, the list of doctors on the active medical
staff at Upland Hills has doubled, from 10 to 20. Fifteen
years ago there were six doctors who practiced obstetrics,
and today there are 11; this includes two specialists
in obstetrics and gynecology who are often difficult
to recruit and retain in rural areas. |
