Upland Hills Health leaders joined Senator Tammy Baldwin and area business owners for a roundtable discussion focused on challenges and opportunities in providing affordable, accessible healthcare in rural Wisconsin.
The discussion, hosted at UHH’s newly opened Mount Horeb Clinic and Urgent Care, brought together leaders from healthcare, business, and the nonprofit sector to share firsthand experiences and perspectives. Representing Upland Hills Health were Dr. Mark Thompson, President and CEO; Dr. Sarah Fox, Vice President of Medical Services for Primary Care Clinics; and Jay Goninen, Board of Trustees Member.
The roundtable provided an opportunity to highlight how policy decisions affect rural health systems, small businesses, and self-employed individuals. Community business leaders also took part in the roundtable, including Macy Buhler, owner of Yahara River Learning Center; Robyn Kitson, owner of Driftless Chocolates; Matt Raboin, owner of Brix Cider; and Rachel LaCasse-Ford, President and CEO of the Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce.
“Upland Hills Health is proud to serve as a voice for rural healthcare,” said Dr. Mark Thompson, UHH President and CEO. “Conversations like this ensure that the needs of patients and communities in southwest Wisconsin are included when decisions are made about the future of healthcare.”
“Protecting access to affordable, high-quality care is at the heart of what we do,” said Dr. Sarah Fox, UHH Vice President of Medical Services–Primary Care. “We value the chance to share how these issues affect our patients and their families.”
