Five area high school students pursuing careers in health care have been awarded scholarships from Upland Hills Health and the Upland Hills Health Foundation for the 2025–2026 academic year. This year’s recipients are Faith Hoffman of Highland; Addison Burris, Madelyn Steffes, Macy Kinch, and Aly Jones, all of Mineral Point. Applicants were selected based on essays describing their motivation to enter the health care field.
Faith Hoffman plans to study nursing at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore, with the long-term goal of earning a doctorate and becoming a neonatal nurse practitioner. Inspired by the loss of her baby sister, she hopes to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.
Addison Burris will also pursue nursing at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. Her passion for helping others grew through hands-on experience as a certified nursing assistant (CNA), reinforcing her commitment to the profession.
Madelyn Steffes will attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison to study psychology. She has already demonstrated a commitment to her community through volunteer work at the Community Connection Free Clinic in Dodgeville and aims to help create safe, supportive environments for others.
Macy Kinch plans to study nursing at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. Inspired from a young age by the teamwork and purpose found in patient care, her experience as a CNA has shown her the powerful impact of compassion, patience, and dedication.
Aly Jones will attend UW–Madison to study nutritional sciences. She is motivated to help individuals facing challenges related to food and health, with the long-term goal of becoming a physician assistant to expand her ability to care for patients.
Upland Hills Health President and CEO Mark Thompson highlighted the importance of supporting students as they work toward careers in health care, stating, “Investing in these students is an investment in the future of our communities and the quality of care we can provide.”
