Local Healthcare Gets Confidence Building Scores
[Dodgeville] If you don’t work within the healthcare industry you may not know that healthcare facilities regularly undergo inspections. The inspection of a healthcare service entity is often referred to as a ‘survey.’ While these surveys are expected, the exact date they will occur is often not known. In 2016, the Emergency Department and the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Upland Hills Health (UHH) in Dodgeville performed extraordinarily well.
The Emergency Department (ED) at Upland Hills Health underwent its Trauma Care Classification Survey for Level IV designation in September of 2016. The results were impeccable. Surveyors noted that, to a large degree, Upland Hills Health’s ED functions at the level of a Trauma III Center, similar to much larger hospitals, and is an example of excellence in trauma care. Surveyor comments went on to state, “the commitment to the community is apparent,” and “the relationship and collaboration with local EMS is astounding.”
The Dodgeville Emergency Department also received a $2,500 grant from Quarles & Brady, LLP and Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative (RWHC) as first place recipient of the Community Engagement Award. Upland Hills Health was recognized for its “JUST DRIVE: Focus on the Road” program which was created by the UHH Trauma and Prevention team in an effort to reduce the occurrence of distracted driving accidents.
In addition, five-star status nursing and rehabilitation care was reconfirmed in December of 2016 when the Upland Hills Health Nursing & Rehabilitation Center received its inspection. Health surveyors and a state engineer unearthed only minor, low-level corrections. The survey team were very complimentary of the nursing facility and its staff.
