Orthopedic & Spine Centers of Wisconsin now in-network with Dean Health Plan at Upland Hills Health

Expanded coverage increases access to high-quality orthopedic care for south central Wisconsin patients.

Orthopedic & Spine Centers of Wisconsin physicians who provide contracted services at Upland Hills Health are pleased to announce that they are now officially in-network with Dean Health Plan at Upland Hills Health.

As one of the region’s largest health insurers, Dean Health Plan serves a substantial patient population in the area. This new in-network status allows more patients to access OSCW’s fellowship-trained orthopedic specialists at Upland Hills Health, improving convenience and continuity of care close to home.

“This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to improving access to high-quality orthopedic care in the communities we serve,” said CEO Dr. Mark Thompson. “By expanding in-network coverage, we’re helping ensure that more patients can receive specialized treatment close to home without unnecessary barriers.”

The OSCW physicians providing care at UHH include Dr. James (J.J.) Prosser, specializing in sports medicine, Dr. James Dahm, specializing in upper extremity and microsurgery, Dr. Tom Zdeblick, specializing in spine surgery, and Dr. Brian Keyes and Dr. Brian Steffin, both specializing in adult joint reconstruction. All providers are board certified, and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeons.

“Now that OSCW’s surgeons are in-network with Dean Health Plan at Upland Hills Health, nearly all patients in Iowa County and the surrounding region have access to timely, high-quality specialty care from fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons close to home. For the people of our community, receiving care locally means less travel, fewer disruptions to work and family life, and earlier access to the treatment they need. We’re proud to be able to provide that level of care in the communities we serve,” said Dr. Dahm.

OSCW physicians have been providing care at Upland Hills Health since 2024, enhancing the hospital’s orthopedic program. The addition of in-network access with Dean Health Plan builds on that foundation, removing barriers for patients seeking care in Southwest Wisconsin.

“As a group, we’re now able to see all patients at UHH,” said Dr. Prosser. “While many rural hospitals have just one or two general orthopedists, we offer ‘big city’ subspecialty care right here in Dodgeville. We can treat a full range of orthopedic conditions locally. Collectively, our providers have some of the best subspecialty training in the country.”

Patients covered by Dean Health Plan can now schedule appointments with OSCW providers directly at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville for any of their musculoskeletal concerns.
