Upland Hills Health has officially broken ground on its new senior living campus, marking a major milestone in a project years in the making that will expand high-quality senior care and living options for residents throughout southwestern Wisconsin.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held on October 12th for the new 98,000-square-foot development. The campus will feature 39 assisted living apartments with studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options, along with 24 enhanced-care assisted living units designed to serve seniors requiring a higher level of care.
The project represents nearly a decade of planning and evaluation by the Upland Hills Health Board of Trustees and leadership team.
“Our hospital board studied a range of possibilities in senior care, visited other senior living campuses, and talked with experts throughout the state,” said Mark Thompson, Upland Hills Health CEO. “Those years of work have led to this exciting event. We know there is growing demand for modern, accessible care and living options that allow seniors to remain close to home and connected to their communities.”
The new campus will provide a continuum of care for seniors while meeting the growing demand for specialized services. Its enhanced-care assisted living facility will offer 24/7 registered nursing coverage, support for residents requiring two-person assistance, and a higher-than-average commitment to serving Medicaid and Medicare residents.
Additionally, CrestRidge Assisted Living and Memory Care, owned by Upland Hills Health and managed by ElderSpan Management, will transition into a dedicated 40-bed memory care community, further expanding specialized care options in the region.
Upland Hills Health will continue its partnership with ElderSpan Management to develop and manage the new campus. ElderSpan currently operates CrestRidge and brings extensive experience in senior living management.
Once the new campus is complete, residents of the Upland Hills Health Nursing & Rehabilitation Center will transition into the most appropriate level of care within the new senior living community. The current nursing home building will then be repurposed for future hospital service expansion.
“Our mission as a nonprofit hospital is to ensure we are helping people of all ages live their healthiest lives,” said Jim Massey, Chair of the Upland Hills Health Board of Trustees. “Expanding care and living options for our area’s aging population does exactly that. This project reflects our commitment to providing seniors with modern facilities, compassionate care, and the opportunity to remain close to family and friends.”
