Upland Hills Health Earns Third Consecutive National Recognition for Cleanliness
Upland Hills Health has once again been named among the nation’s cleanest hospitals, earning a 5-star rating for cleanliness from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and inclusion in Becker’s Hospital Review. This marks the third consecutive year Upland Hills Health has received this national recognition.
The CMS 5-star designation is based on patient feedback gathered through the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey – a national, standardized survey measuring patients’ experiences during inpatient hospital stays. The most recent results reflect surveys completed between October 1, 2023, and September 30, 2024, with data released August 6, 2025.
Only a select group of hospitals nationwide achieved a 5-star cleanliness rating this year. Wisconsin ranked second in the nation, with 28 hospitals receiving the honor – and Upland Hills Health among them.
“Cleanliness is one of the most visible reflections of a hospital’s values and commitment to patient safety,” said Dr. Mark Thompson, CEO of Upland Hills Health. “To earn this distinction three years in a row speaks volumes about our team’s dedication to excellence and the pride they take in caring for our patients and community.”
Ryan Teasdale, Director of Facilities at Upland Hills Health, added, “Every member of our environmental services and facilities teams understands that a clean environment isn’t just about appearance – it’s about creating a safe, healing space for patients and staff alike. This continued recognition affirms the high standards we maintain every day.”
The hospital’s consistent recognition underscores a culture of quality, safety, and attention to detail that extends across all departments at Upland Hills Health.
“Earning this recognition three years in a row reinforces what our patients already know – that they can trust Upland Hills Health to provide exceptional care in a clean and welcoming environment,” Dr. Thompson added.
