Vaccine Clinic Monday, August 24, 2026 from Noon-5pm

  • The Iowa County Health Department along with O’Connell Pharmacy is coordinating a community-wide measles vaccine clinic in Mineral Point on Monday, August 24th. The clinic runs from Noon to 5 PM at the Mineral Point EMS Rescue Squad Office located at 907 Ridge Street. Most insurances are accepted.
  • The most important thing persons can do to protect themselves, is to make sure they are appropriately vaccinated, or otherwise immune to measles.
  • You can look up your measles immunization records from the Wisconsin Immunization Registry at DHFSWIR.ORG.
  • Also — we are excited to announce that the Family Resource Center of Iowa County will have a safety technician on hand to check car seats.
  • We hope to see you at the Mineral Point EMS Rescue Squad Office on Monday, August 24th between Noon and 5 PM.

Additional key points…

  • MMR vaccine protects you from measles, mumps, and rubella. Two doses of the is 97% effective at preventing measles.
  • The MMR vaccine is safe and has been used for over 50 years.
  • Kids get 2 doses: one at age 1, and another between ages 4 and 6. MMR vaccination rates in Iowa County for school age children are at 86% which is below the 95% needed to prevent further spread in our communities.
  • Adults who did not get the MMR vaccine as a kid should get 1 dose now. If you were born before 1957, you probably had the measles as a child and do not need the vaccine.
  • We encourage everyone to check with vaccination records, especially as families prepare for the upcoming school year.  Look up your measles immunization records through the Wisconsin Immunization Registry at https://www.dhfswir.org/PR/logoff.do   If you’re a parent or legal guardian, you can also look up your children’s records. Questions regarding your vaccine status should begin with a call to your health care provider.
